Energy labels, explained
Every Dutch home offered for sale or rent needs an energy label, from A++++ (best) to G. It grades how energy-efficient the building is — insulation, glazing, heating installation and the like.
Why it matters
The label is a shorthand for running costs: a well-insulated A-label home simply needs less energy to keep warm than a G-label one of the same size. It also signals how much improvement work a home may still need.
Reading it when you search
On Homawia the label is shown on every card that has one, and you can filter with a threshold — “B or better” — under More filters, which is how most people actually use it.
Improving a label
Labels aren’t fixed: insulation, better glazing, a heat pump or solar panels can move a home up several steps, and the label is reassessed when the home is next offered.
